In the time of confusion: How do we move forward? (Post 6 /2019)

In the time of confusion, it is a common knowledge that we need to be strictly disciplined and approach the situation critically with a firm grip on what we do, what we say and what we imagine. Why I am saying this is primarily because we are in the transition period when our political, as well as governance landscape, is in the state of complete overhauling. In a way, this is what we needed based on people's aspiration manifested as people's uprising with the uprooting of the traditional powerhouse. So, we can safely say that when we are in confusion, chaos or disarray like it happens when disaster happens in your community, it is better to go slow and steady, rather than to flow with the confusion.

When we travel around Kathmandu valley or outside, we see a lot of struggle we all have to face e.g. terrible traffic, shortage of water, somewhat improved electricity shortage and so on. Even getting good health care and acceptable education for your children, we are facing an uphill challenge to fulfill our children's' demand and their needs. Everybody around us is questioning what is going in the mind of our leadership? We all imagine for peace and prosperity in our family, community, society and our country at large. All these inner aspirations can be realized only through hard work and perseverance. We are crying for smart and honest leadership working for the common people. However, we have begun to question the very intention of political leadership across all parties. Also, we need to realize that there are no short cuts to prosperity and has to be earned with discipline and hard work. We are all aware of this knowledge, but still, we are bewildered and have no clue till date why are we in the same state of turmoil and confusion even after decades? This is one big question that we need to find an answer, otherwise, our children have to face hardship if we leave our state of affairs as it is today.

In every darkness, however, we need to be able to find a ray of hope and that is called "the act of perseverance with discipline" and that to be lead from within. In the time of uncertainty or turbulence, we express our true leadership skills, which are a mixture of emotional, social and political attitude based on our prevailing ecosystem. Somewhere I have a gut feeling when I see subtle changes or an urge for change among youth, we have hope that we are able to bring meaningful socio-political reform, which in turn bring economic prosperity. It is, after all, a moment to be captured so we are able to trigger a virtuous cycle for the betterment of all us. I am positively hopeful, there comes a day soon we will accelerate our push for a better life. It is, therefore, assuring to say to ourselves that "while confusion can stir a seamlessly never-ending cloud of fog that envelops everything around you, it is also a sign of great and powerful change."

In this century of Artificial intelligence (AI), where machine learning with internet reaching every individual through their mobile set is dramatically changing the landscape of global power dynamics in terms of market reach as well as the business modalities. Even in Nepal, there is one thing that stands out against everything else is the reach of telecommunication and internet services. This could be an excellent opportunity for us to leapfrog through the best utilization and promotion of STEM sectors. We see the huge potential in this sector and our population young as well as strong. For this to happen, we need to create optimism among our youths so they stay home and innovate using an already existing platform. I was convinced and not just daydreaming on these possibilities when I visited one of the technology events showcasing the internet-based platform for doing business-like plumbing services to the food distribution chain, which is taking root in KTM valley as well. The youths of our country are in a hurry and looking for enabling environment, where local talents get the ecosystem to realize their dreams into reality. Fro this, our government has to play the role of a facilitator only, the rest could be left to the market and our business environment. Also, it is to note that the whole of government needs to put in place connecting the global development while protecting and promoting the local heritage.
